As we celebrate ModeOne’s third anniversary, we, the leadership team—Jason Purviance, Ryan Frye, and Ryan Bosselman—wish to express our heartfelt appreciation for our Founder and CEO, Matthew Rasmussen. Matt’s visionary leadership and unwavering commitment have been the company’s North Star, guiding every step of ModeOne’s remarkable journey and success.
In 2017, while serving as the West Coast Manager of Litigation Support at O’Melveny & Myers, Matt recognized the inefficiencies in mobile data collection. Determined to find a solution, he invested his personal savings and dedicated three years (of his “spare” time) to develop what has become ModeOne’s groundbreaking SaaS framework. This innovation has revolutionized the collection and processing of data from Apple and Android mobile devices, setting a new standard in the industry.
Under Matt’s leadership, ModeOne has achieved significant milestones:
- Rapid Global Expansion: In July 2024, ModeOne expanded its services into the United Kingdom, establishing a UK-based cloud infrastructure to meet growing global demand. Based on the strength of our offering, in February 2025 the company landed its first client in Australia.
- Continued Product Innovations: The company introduced major product updates, including an industry-first Participant Filtering feature; immediate support for Android 15; day-one compatibility with iPhone 16 and iOS 18; and a Relativity integration application. Additionally, ModeOne was issued a patent for its technology.
- Unfettered Industry Recognition: ModeOne was honored as the “LegalTech Startup of the Year” in the 2024 LegalTech Breakthrough Awards, a testament to our innovative solutions and impact on the legal technology industry. ModeOne is also a finalist for the LegalWeek 2025 Awards in the eDiscovery Technology category.
Matt’s journey from recognizing a critical need to leading a company tackling the complexities of global smartphone data discovery demonstrates his dedication and entrepreneurial spirit. His ability to inspire and guide us is a cornerstone of ModeOne’s culture and success.
